Australia visa

Australia offers varies different visa types for people who want to live, work, visit or study in Australia. Broadly, they can be grouped into following categories: Skilled Migration visas, Employer sponsored visas, Business visas, Family visas, Student visas and other visitor and refugee visas. Skilled Migration Visas :
The Skilled Migration Program is aim to help to overcome skill shortages within the Australian workforce and to identify individuals who can bring valuable economic benefits to the Australian economy.

 

Basic requirements :
  • Age : The main applicant must be between 18 and 50 years old.
  • English language : applicants must have “meet the English requirements”.
  • Health and Character requirements : Applicants (including family members) must meet specific health and character requirements.
  • Nominated occupation : applicants must nominate an occupation that appears on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and have their skills assessed by a government appointed Australian Assessing Authority.
  • Qualifications Applicants must have either university or trade qualifications.
  • Recent work experience : Applicants must have recent work experience in their nominated occupation before they apply unless they have studied for at least two years in Australia. (They must lodge their skilled visa application within six months of completing their studies)
  • Point test Applicants must pass what is called the “points test”. Points are allocated for qualifications, age, English language skills, work experience, your spouse’s skills. Extra points are given to those who have family in Australia or Australian qualifications . Passing mark varies depends on the visa subclass.

Employer Sponsored Visas :
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) has been developed to help Australian employers to recruit highly-skilled staff from overseas or from people temporarily in Australia when there is a shortage of skilled professionals within the Australian labor market.

 

Basic requirements :
  • Age : The main applicants must be less than 50 years old.
  • English language : applicants must have “meet the English requirements”.
  • Health and Character requirements : Applicants (including family members) must meet specific health and character requirements.
  • Sponsorship : The applicant must be sponsored by a “qualified” employer. The employment contract has to be no less than 2 years. (3 years contract is required if it is for a permanent visa)
  • Qualifications Applicants must have the qualification required for the position.

Business Visas :
Australia's business skills migration programme aims to encourage successful business people (business owners, senior executives, investors) with a proven business or investment record to establish or develop a business in Australia. Initially, the Business Provisional visa system allows business people to be granted a temporary visa for up to four years. To be eligible for permanent residence, you will need to establish the required level of business or maintain certain level of investment activities within the four years of the temporary visa. There are a number of different visa subclasses for Business Visas (Provisional):

 

Business Innovation & Investment Subclass 188 visas

 

1. Business Innovation stream

 

Basic requirements :
  • Age : Applicants must be less than 55 years old.
  • Nomination by a state or territory government.
  • Invitation to apply through SkillSelect.
  • English language : No English requirements.
  • Health and Character requirements : Applicants (including family members) must meet specific health and character requirements.
Business and assets requirements :
  • For two of the past four fiscal years: the applicant must :
    • Have actively participated in the management of an actively operating business with an annual turnover of at least AUD $500,000.
    • personally or combined with partner have owned at least: 51 per cent of the business where the turnover is less than AUD400 000 per annum. 30 per cent of the business where the turnover is AUD400 000 or more per annum. 10 per cent where the business is a publicly listed company.
    • Have net business and personal assets of at least AUD$800 000; which must be lawfully acquired and available for transfer to Australia within 2 years after the grant of the visa.
    • have sufficient assets (additional to those above) of at least AUD100 000 to settle in Australia.
  • The applicants must :
    • Have a realistic commitment to establish or participate in a qualifying business in Australia & maintain a substantial ownership & direct & continuous involvement in the management of that business.

2. Investor stream

 

Basic requirements :
  • Age : Applicants must be less than 55 years old.
  • Nomination by a state or territory government.
  • Invitation to apply through SkillSelect.
  • English language : nil.
  • Health and Character requirements : Applicants (including family members) must meet specific health and character requirements.
Business and assets requirements :
  • The applicants must :
    • Make a designated investment of $AUD1, 500,000.
    • Have 3 years experience in direct management in successful business or eligible investment or business activity in acceptable activities (i.e., not illegal or unethical practices).
    • Have a realistic commitment to establish or participate in a qualifying business in Australia & maintain a substantial ownership & direct & continuous involvement.
    • Have net business and personal assets of at least AUD$2,250 000; which must be lawfully acquired.
  • For one of the past five fiscal years, the applicant must :
    • Have maintained direct involvement in either managing a main business in which the applicant personally or jointly with parter have had an ownership interest of at least: 51% of the business where the turnover is less than AUD400 000 per annum; or 30 % of the business where the turnover is AUD400 000 or more per annum; or 10 % where the business is a publicly listed company; or
    • have had direct involvement in managing eligible investments amounting to at least $1,500,000.

 

3. Significant Investor stream

 

Basic requirements :
  • Age : nil
  • English language : nil.
  • Health and Character requirements : Applicants (including family members) must meet specific health and character requirements.
Business and assets requirements :
  • The applicants must :
    • Make a designated investment of $AUD 5,000,000.
    • Be nominated by a state or territory government.
    • Be invited to apply through SkillSelect.
    • A "complying investment" for the purpose of the Signification Investor Visa includes: State/Territory government bonds; or ASIC regulated managed funds making investments in Australian assets; or Direct investment into unlisted Australian companies.

Family Visas :
There are a number of migration options for fiancé (e)s, partners, children, parents and other family members of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens.

 

Basic requirements :
  • Sponsorship : The applicant must be sponsored by his /her relative who is an eligible sponsor. An eligible sponsor is an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen, who has been settled in Australian and undertakes sponsorship obligations.

Student Visas :
Australia is one of the most popular countries for overseas students due to its excellent and well established education system.

 

To be granted a student visa, students are assessed against their assessment levels. Assessment Levels are determined by students’ passport nationality and the type of student visa they wish to apply for. The assessment levels range between 1 and 5. The lower your assessment level number, the less documental evidence is required. There are a numbers of different student visas, the most commonly applied visa subclasses are:
  • English Language Course (ELICOS) (Subclass 570) Visa :
    This is for applicants wanting to complete an English Language course.
  • School Sector (Subclass 571) Visa :
    This is for applicants wanting to complete a course of study at primary and secondary schools.
  • Vocational Education and Training Sector (Subclass 572) Visa :
    This is for applicants wanting to study Certificate I, II, III, IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Advanced Certificates.
  • Higher Education Sector (Subclass 573) Visa :
    This is for applicants wanting to study a Bachelors Degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diplomas and Masters by coursework.
  • Masters and Doctorate Sector (Subclass 574) Visa :
    This is for applicants wanting to study a Masters by research and Doctoral Degrees.
Basic requirements :
  • Age : Applicants must be over18 year’s old or special accommodation and welfare arrangement must be made.
  • English language : applicants must meet the Australian Education Provider’s requirement.
  • Health and Character requirements : Applicants (including family members) must meet specific health and character requirements.
Other requirements :
  • Accepted in Full-Time Study :
    Applicants must be accepted by a registered full time course of An Australian Education Institution.
  • Financial Requirements :
    Applicants must have enough money to pay for travel, tuition and living expenses for the applicants and their family for the duration of their stay in Australia.
  • Health Insurance :
    The applicants must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
  • Academic Record and History :
    The applicants must provide evidence of the academic record and history to meet the Australian Education Provider’s requirements.
